Bond markets slowly gaining confidence. The 10-year Treasury yield has crawled only a little bit higher, but it’s moved in the right direction and is now sitting about 0.5% above the 2-year yield, while credit spreads continue to narrow. Bond markets have not shown the economic optimism that stocks have, but signs of a more positive outlook are starting to appear.

Latest COVID-19 news. On Monday, the rate of positive tests in the United States fell to a new daily low, just over 4% according to COVID-19 Tracking Project data. In Germany, Chancellor Angela Merkel is working on a 100 billion euro pandemic response package. Hong Kong extended some lockdown measures, including a ban on gatherings of more than eight people after COVID-19 cases flared up. Restrictions may be re-imposed in Tokyo after 34 new infections—a three-week high—were reported Tuesday.
